Baobab de Grandidier — detail

The column of Morondava

Endemic to western Madagascar, Grandidier's Baobab raises a silvery-grey cylindrical trunk up to thirty metres, crowned by an almost flat top.

It forms the famous Avenue of the Baobabs near Morondava; its water-swollen wood carries it through long dry seasons, yet the species is now endangered.

"The Baobab stores rain the way others store memories."

It needs the strongest sun available, all day and with no competition for light.

Styling Tip 02

Sparse watering

Water moderately in full growth and keep it completely dry through its winter rest.

03

Styling Tip 03

Drainage and frost care

In a pot, use a very free-draining mix and bring it in as soon as temperatures fall below 10 °C.
