The sacred shrub of the Mediterranean
Native to the Mediterranean basin, Myrtle was sacred to Aphrodite in antiquity and grows wild in the maquis of Tunisia and across North Africa.
Hardy and drought-resistant, it forms a dense hedge of scented foliage, flowers white in summer and bears aromatic berries used in liqueur and cooking.
