The tree that sleeps
Native to Iran and Central Asia, it forms a wide, flat parasol, ideal for shading a terrace without darkening the house.
Each evening its leaflets fold together in pairs along their midrib, and the tree seems to close in on itself: its Persian name means "night flower".
